DJ Grunge - Hard Breaks

Never forget where you came from could be the catch cry for this dj who jumped the drum & bass fence to put his spin on breaks. Grunge mixes like his in the trenches bringing old school, rock and D&B flava to his set. After turning a few prominent heads at the PDMA pre-party at ivinyl, Grunge also unleashed his own signature dark stylings on the ivinyl 6 month birthday bash, 12 Tribes.

With a music collection which ranges from Sinatra to Sonic Animation to Sepultura, defining the influences of DJ Grunge is like trying to hold water in your hands. Never afraid to throw down a new sound in his sets, Grunge challenges the ideas and mindsets of his audience by refusing to be confined by the current flavours, no label or sound is too off the wall or obscure, if the tune fits it’ll be slammed down with no thought for whether it fits with any particular style.

DJ Grunge has been mixing for over 8 years, starting in drum and bass before turning away from the dark side of the force (jokes). With the recent influx of artists crossing the floor, led by the awesome Aquasky, a whole new style of breaks with his name written all over it has been released by artists like Deep Impact, Splitloop, Agent K and the Auto-bots.

If you like your breaks dark and dirty, and just a little bit outside the square, then DJ Grunge is the man for you. If you want to check him in the flesh, then keep an eye on the Ivinyl website or get in contact on the details below. And if you want a demo, Brad and Cath have recorded all the sets from the 12 Tribes gig, get in contact with me for a copy.

Appearing soon on Base FM (104.9FM) with the ivinyl massive, DJ Grunge has gone from strength to strength over the past year, from being almost completely unknown to guesting on Base FM on Sunday mornings with Trifle, playing at Ambar and Heat, and also booked in for the next RTRFM fundraiser, its gonna be a big year for him, so come down and check it out sometime soon.
