Signal Drivers

Whether it’s DJing, producing or running their local night Destination?, Signal Drivers are 2 of the most hardworking DJs on the Perth breaks scene. They’re best known for their residencies at local nights including Pitchshifter at Ambar, Many Styles at The Big Apple, Chilli Funk at Monkey Bar and Beatfix and The Newport.

Pete (Santa) and Mark (Teksta) have been DJing separately for a total of fifteen years. They burst onto the seen at the infamous Afterlife parties and set about “doing their time” playing a number of local nights including Signal 2 Noise, a night known for showcasing the who’s who of Perth music.

They gained notoriety as residents for one of Perth’s most respected promotor’s, Loaded Dice. Many Styles presented by Loaded Dice showcased Perth’s finest and Signal Drivers quickly established themselves amongst this group.

Pete and Mark have earned their stripes with their unique turntablism, sampling and effects show that never fails to rock the dancefloor. At their best Signal Drivers command 4 decks and 2 mixers combined with Midi controlled laptop sampling.

Through the years they have been fortunate enough to support their favourite international acts including Stanton Warriors, Deekline and Wizard, Freq Nasty, Hyper, Kid Kenobi, Klaus Heavyweight Hill, Nubreed, Tipper, Skool of Thought, Dopamine, Ali B and Freddy Fresh amongst others. They are best known for their versatility. Whether it’s playing peak time, warm up, closing or opening, Signal Drivers have proven adaptability which makes them very attractive to Perth promoters.

Signal Drivers have used their success behind the decks to launch their production careers. Whilst currently working on an EP they have released a track titled “Sticky Date” on the successful Synthetic Beats compilation. Any Signal Drivers set will showcase their production ability with their remixing and sampling talent on display. Look out as the Signal Drivers will be pushing for a release of a number of their tunes. Their bootlegs under the name “Mr Pants” are already gaining notoriety.

Destination? Is one of the longest running breaks nights in Perth featuring the best of Perth’s breakbeat DJs and producers. It features local DJs/producers working with live musicians to create a vibe and reputation which has stood the test of time. Signal Drivers latest projects include regular appearances at Bumpa at Heat, as regular guests for Revolution at Rise, Ebb n Flow at Hyde Park and working hard on their radio show "Gate 17" on BaseFM 104.9.
